_”Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men” (Matthew 5:13)._
*Message:* The nature and the functions of salt make it indispensable in life. Among many other needs, salt gives taste, serves as preservation and healing agents. Christians are called to give the true meaning of life to the world, to preserve God’s righteousness and to bring healing to the Nations. God’s purpose cannot be achieved on earth except God’s children understand their roles and play them actively. This is what brings joy to God and relevance to God’s children. It is possible for children of God to get distracted and abandoned the original purpose of their calling and primary responsibility and settle for something else. That is what it means for salt to lost it’s savour. Christians lost their relevance when the salt in them has lost it’s savour. In this case, no matter how good things look outside or level of pretense God is not pleased. Think of these:
- It is very important to God for His children not to lost their relevance in this decaying world that needs the presence & the power of God to preserve God’s purpose.
- There is no other way we can be salt to the earth than the life we live and the gospel we proclaim.
- If there are ways that the salt in you has lost it’s savour, today is another opportunity to make a change in order to fulfill God’s original purpose for your life. God bless you.
