_”And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread. And he said, Call her. And when he had called her, she stood in the door. And he said, About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid. And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life” ( 2 Kings 4:8, 15-17)._
*Message:* This is the story of Elisha and the Shunemite woman. The Shunemite woman with her husband were wealthy people. The woman took note of Elisha that he was a man of God as he passes to Shunem and decided to be hospitable to him. As this woman continued to take care of Elisha, the man of God could no longer remain indifferent, he thought of what to do for the Shunemite woman. Elisha realised that the woman was childless. This was a great need in her life despite her wealth. Elisha the prophet prophesied a child into her life and the woman bring forth a son. The Shunemite woman was sensitive to the need of Elisha and faithfully took care of him and God visited her. Think of these:
- When God blesses us with wealth we need to invest it to advance His kingdom, by supporting His works and His servants.
- Servants of God should consistently pray God’s blessings into the lives of faithful children of God who support God’s work and God’s servants with their resources.
- God will always honour those who honour Him, we must do our own part by honouring God with all that we are and that we have in life. God bless you.
